We wanted to take a moment to update you about recent changes to California Redemption Value (CRV)rates that went into effect on January 1, 2025. These changes were made by CalRecycle, the state agency responsible for setting recycling rates, and are based on the current market value of recyclable materials. Rates are reviewed and adjusted twice a year — in January and July — to ensure fair and consistent pricing.
The good news is that some material prices, such as plastic, have increased, which means higher redemption values for many of your recyclable items. This is an opportunity for you to redeem even more CRV in 2025.
● Aluminum: Was $1.61 per pound → Now$1.65 per pound
● Plastic (PET): Was $1.32 per pound → Now$1.47 per pound
● #2 Plastic: Was $ 0.59 per pound →Now $0.63
● #6 Plastic: Was $ 5.01 per pound → Now$5.47
● Glass: Was $0.105 per pound → Now$0.102 per pound
The state updates these rates regularly based on fluctuations in market value for recyclable materials. This ensures that theCRV program remains sustainable and continues to provide incentives for recycling.
We know that changes like this can bring questions, and we’re committed to making the process as clear and convenient as possible. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team, visit the CalRecycle website for more information, and view all of the new rates for January 2025 here:
